Arizona Legislation

Pearl at the Mailbox played an instrumental role in the passage of the Trafficking Survivor Relief Act, helping provide legal relief for survivors who were convicted of offenses that occurred as a direct result of their trafficking. The law recognizes that victims should not continue to bear the lifelong consequences of crimes they were compelled to commit while being exploited.

Pearl at the Mailbox played a key role to the passage and ongoing implementation of Arizona's Vacatur Law, allowing eligible survivors of sex trafficking to petition the court to have qualifying prostitution convictions vacated. This law helps survivors remove barriers to employment, housing, education, and other opportunities as they rebuild their lives.

 

Pearl at the Mailbox played an instrumental role in advocating for Proposition 313, which Arizona voters approved in 2024. The measure requires a sentence of natural life imprisonment for individuals convicted of child sex trafficking, sending a clear message that children are not for sale and strengthening Arizona's commitment to protecting vulnerable children from sexual exploitation.

Worked alongside legislators, survivors, prosecutors, law enforcement, and community advocates beginning in July 2025 to help pass HB 2720, signed into law on June 25, 2026. The law made Arizona the second state in the nation to make the purchase of sex from an adult a felony on the first offense. It also strengthened survivor protections by allowing eligible survivors to petition the court to have qualifying criminal records sealed. The legislation reflects the belief that reducing demand is essential to reducing human trafficking while supporting survivors on their path to restoration.

Advocated for federal legislation protecting victims of non-consensual intimate images and AI-generated sexual exploitation. Invited to attend the White House bill signing in recognition of survivor advocacy efforts.
