What Is a “MAP” and Where We Stand
 

MAP stands for “Minor-Attracted Person.”
The term is sometimes used by individuals who experience sexual attraction to minors and prefer not to use the word “pedophile.”
 

Some advocates use the term in clinical or self-identification contexts to describe attraction without necessarily describing behavior.
 

Our Position

At Pearl at the Mailbox, our position is clear:

• The safety and protection of children is non-negotiable.

• Sexual exploitation of minors is never acceptable.

• Grooming is intentional manipulation designed to harm children.

• Prevention must always prioritize the well-being of minors over adult preferences or labels.
   

While accurate language can matter in professional settings, terminology must never minimize the risk to children or shift focus away from accountability.
 

Children cannot consent to sexual relationships with adults.
Any adult sexual interest directed toward minors represents a safeguarding concern.
